About the ECC
The European Control Conference
The conference aims to bring together academic and industrial professionals in the field of systems and control, and to promote scientific cooperation and exchanges within Europe and between Europe and other parts of the World.
ECC27 is the 25th in the European Control Association (EUCA) series of European Control Conferences and will be held in Brussels, Belgium, from July 13 to July 16, 2027.
The first ECC was held in Grenoble in 1991, under the chairmanship of Ioan Landau, and was attended by about 650 people. The ECC was subsequently held every two years until 2011, and annually since 2013.
The 2027 local host organization is UCLouvain.
Technical co-sponsorship of the event is provided by the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) and the IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS).
The host institution: UCLouvain
UCLouvain (or the University of Louvain in English) is Belgium’s largest French-speaking university and one of the oldest in Europe, originally founded in 1425. Its main campus is located in Louvain-la-Neuve, a town purpose-built to accommodate the university. Today, UCLouvain comprises nine campuses, including the Brussels Woluwé campus, which will host the 25th European Control Conference (ECC).
The original University of Louvain (Universitas Lovaniensis) was established in the historic town of Leuven (Louvain in French) in 1425, making it the first university in Belgium and in the Low Countries. In 1968, the institution split into two independent universities: the Dutch-speaking Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, which remained in Leuven, and the French-speaking Université catholique de Louvain, which relocated to Louvain-la-Neuve in Wallonia.
UCLouvain currently educates around 37,000 students from 127 nationalities across a wide range of disciplines, including the humanities, health sciences, and science and technology.
The European Control Association
The European Control Association (EUCA) is a non-profit organization that promotes initiatives for scientific exchange, information dissemination, research networks and technology transfer in the field of Systems and Control within Europe.
Among EUCA’s main initiatives, there are the European Control Conferences, which have been held since 1991, the European Journal of Control, which has published high quality research papers on the theory and practice of control and systems engineering since 1995, and several awards.
