General Shopping Hours
In Reykjavík, most shops are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with slightly shorter hours on Saturdays, typically from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Larger stores, supermarkets, and shopping malls, such as Kringlan and Smáralind, often stay open until 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM on weekdays and have extended hours on weekends.

Pharmacies in Iceland are called “Apótek”, and they are widely available in Reykjavík. They provide prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and basic health supplies. Pharmacists are knowledgeable and can assist with minor health concerns or recommend suitable treatments.
Opening Hours
Most pharmacies are open during standard business hours, typically from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays, with reduced hours on weekends. Some central locations may have extended hours.
Tipping
Tipping is not customary in Iceland and is generally not expected. Service charges are usually included in the bill at restaurants, cafés, and hotels. Electric Current/Voltage
Iceland operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz frequency, the same as most of Europe. Power outlets use the standard European Type F plug with two round pins.
Visitors from countries using different voltage standards or plug types may require a voltage converter or plug adapter to charge devices. Most modern electronics, like laptops and smartphones, are dual voltage and only need a plug adapter.
